Weekend Recap 2/24-2/26: IU-Purdue, Paul vs Fury, Brandon Miller, RHH-Jags extension, Kings-Clippers
The basketball was good, Brandon Miller can't get out of his own way, Jake Paul goes down
Friday — Kings Clippers second highest scoring game all time
The Boomers will hate this game. I friggin’ loved every second it. The easiest take on Earth — and it’s illogical — is that there is no defense played in the NBA any more. Why do people say that? Because these box score analyzers don’t watch the game and judge the final score.
I watched every second of Kings-Clippers. No one in the history of Earth could’ve stopped Kawhi Leonard when he got going. It’s just not possible. The shot making from these NBA stars is absurd. These guys are legitimate ballerinas with the ability to stop on a dime and rise up from 25 feet.
Shout out to anyone that bet the under 238. Wouldn’t you rather lose a bet by 113 points than by 1?

The NBA record still stands at 370 total points — 186-184 Pistons vs Nuggets 3OT in December 1983.
Saturday — #17 Indiana upsets #5 Purdue
You ever go to a concert/show and the opener steals the night? That’s kind of how Indiana-Purdue felt Saturday night.
The National Player of the Year award is still up for grabs with Trayce Jackson-Dvis and Zach Edey in the top 5 of all ballots of voters with brains (Jay Bilas must’ve been drunk when he created his list)
Everyone was tuned in to see Edey vs TJD in a rivalry matchup. TJD was a total non-factor and didn’t score his first point until midway through the second half. So Purdue by 20+, right?
Jalen Hood-Schifino had other plans. 35 points and 7 rebounds.
Purdue Head Coach Matt Painter was amazed by Hood-Schifino's all-around performance: "I don’t know if we see him again. That’s impressive. Very few people have rolled through here and done that."
We won’t, Matt. JHS made himself some good money on Saturday night and cemented himself as a 2023 NBA lottery draft pick.

I’m very excited to see Indiana over the next month or so. Saturday’s win at Purdue was the best in quite a long time for the Hoosiers.

Sunday — Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury
Heading into Sunday’s fight, this “Script” went viral on social media.
We all know WWE/AEW is “fake” but the action is real. Is this what Jake Paul’s fights are all about?
This “script” is believable in terms of what could have happened. But the “script” was shown to be complete shit when neither fighter came out to the songs listed.
As for the action/result in the script, Tommy’s brother Shane thinks you’re insane if you bought into it.

Fury got the win Sunday afternoon via split decision in front of an anti-Paul crowd. One judge tried to uphold boxing’s standards of fraudulence by giving the match to Paul 75-74. In no logical way did Paul win the fight and it was laughable to see a judge’s scorecard try to give the “Problem Child” the win.
I think everyone hating on Paul has pushed me to like him. Does he do steroids? I’m sure he does! Does he pick fights to benefit his career? Sure he does! So does every other boxer in history.
Yeah, I typed this above paragraph before the fight. Paul lost and acted like a legit baby. Paul threw out a ton of excuses for his first career loss. What a loser.
I was interested to see Paul finally face a “real boxer”. What is the draw of a rematch or Paul going forward?
Jags extend Roy Robertson-Harris
What a fun guy to watch play each week. He loves Duval and Duval loves him. Too often players come to Jacksonville as a pit stop n their career. RRH does not approach it this way.
His mentality makes him perfect for the city. Too many losers like Hugh Douglas or Bryce Paup come to Jacksonville for the paycheck and coast on their way out of the NFL. Not RHH. I loved this quote after the Jaguars playoff win against the Chargers.

No Jaguars fan will ever forget January 14, 2023 and a major piece of that game was RHH. An absolute force against the Chargers OL.

Brandon Miller frisked
One of the biggest stories in sports right now is Brandon Miller’s involvement in the murder of Jamea Harris on the campus of the University of Alabama. We didn’t know about this until last week when police testimony placed Miller at the scene as the person who delivered the murder weapon, which was loaded at the time.
Whether he knew what was about to happen is the million dollar question. But I think all logical minds can agree that sidelining Miller until the process plays out is the correct move. Not in Nate Oats’ mind!
Miller is still playing…and still using his pregame lineup ritual of being frisked by a teammate as if he was a concert-goer in a security line.
HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?!
If you were still giving Oats, Miller and the leaders at Alabama the benefit of the doubt, you probably feel a little foolish today.'
“It’s not appropriate,” Tide coach Nate Oats told reporters after the game. “It’s been addressed and I can assure you it definitely will not happen again.”
Miller has apaprently been using this pregame lineup ritual all season. THAT’S EVEN WORSE! No one at Bama thought to have him stop doing this in the 5 weeks since Harris was murdered?!
Let’s check out Brandon Miller’s Twitter profile, @brandmillerr
Everyone involved in this tragic situation has handled themselves horribly. Nate Oats falls on his face whenever he talks about it. Miller has been mocking the tragedy with his pregame ritual and Twitter profile banner picture.
